Abstract
The main objective of the study was to determine the social values orientation and level of empowerment among college work students of Central Philippine University. The research design for the study was a descriptive-correlational design and utilized the one-shot survey. A self-administered questionnaire accompanied by a questionnaire taken from the study of Van Lange (1999) entitled “The Pursuit of Joint Outcomes and Equality in Outcomes: An Integrative Model of Social Value Orientation” served as the main tool for data collection. A sample size of 165 respondents participated in the study. The majority of the respondents were female, and the dominant religion comprising the majority was Roman Catholicism. Also, the majority of the respondents lived outside the Iloilo City Area, and a high percentage of the respondents graduated from public high schools. When variables were tested in terms of their relationships among one another using chi-square, it was found that there was no significant relationship among other variables except between social values orientation and the school graduated from. The results indicated that respondents coming from private high schools are more prosocial or altruistic than their public high school counterparts.

Abstract
This descriptive-relational study was conducted to determine the factors influencing the level of compliance with medical regimens among college students at Central Philippine University. A total of 564 respondents were involved in the study using stratified random sampling. Percentages, Frequency, Gamma, and Chi-square test were used as tools to analyze data. Results revealed that the level of compliance with medical regimens among college students at Central Philippine University was “good” (Grand Mean = 24.23). The student’s level of compliance with medical regimens is significantly related to geographical location (G= -0.205, p= 0.017), course (ᵡ 2 = 8.066, p= 0.018), fathers’ educational attainment (G= 0.270, p= 0.006), mothers’ educational attainment (G= 0.370, p= 0.002), monthly family income (G= 0.185, p= 0.008), and health seeking behavior (G= 0.413, p= 0.000). However, the level of compliance was not related to the religion (ᵡ 2 = 1.177, p= 0.882) and type of illness of the respondents (ᵡ 2 = 12.726, p= 0.239).

Abstract:
The main objective of the study was to determine the SMS texting practices and their impact on the written communication skills of students at Central Philippine University-Elementary Department. Employing a descriptive-correlational methodology, the research utilized a one-shot survey and a researcher-developed questionnaire to collect data from a sample of 100 pupils. The findings revealed a predominant age group of twelve years old among the respondents, with a majority being female. Analysis of the text messaging habits showed that a significant portion of participants sent an average of sixteen messages or fewer, indicating a low level of texting activity. Moreover, a considerable percentage of the students demonstrated “good” proficiency in written communication. Upon examining the relationships among variables, it was observed that age exhibited a strong correlation with written communication skills, whereas no significant relationship was found between the extent of text messaging and written communication proficiency.

Abstract:
The objective of this descriptive-correlational study was to assess the level of confidence among CPU education students in English conversation. Specifically, it aimed to investigate whether variables such as gender, parents’ highest educational attainment, location and type of high school attended, grammar competency, and the amount of time spent reading and speaking in English influenced their confidence in English conversation. A non-experimental one-shot survey research design was employed, utilizing a self-administered questionnaire distributed to 200 respondents. Data analysis utilized statistical tools including Chi-square, Gamma, mean, percentages, and frequency count. The findings revealed that the majority of respondents exhibited an average level of confidence in English conversation, grammar competency, practice in English conversation, and time spent reading. Additionally, it was found that parents’ highest educational attainment significantly influenced the respondents’ grammar competency, reading habits, English speaking practice, and confidence level in English conversation. Finally, the study concluded that factors such as gender, type, and location of high school attended did not exert influence on an individual’s confidence level in English conversation.

Abstract:
This study examined the correlation between the academic performance of varsity players at Central Philippine University and further analyzed their performance. Data were collected from 121 respondents, with 10 of them undergoing a test-retest survey before data gathering commenced. Chi-square and Gamma analyses were employed for data analysis. The study found significant links between the respondents’ grades and their gender (Chi-square = 16.319, p-value = 0.000), as well as the types of sports they played (Chi-square = 43.102, p-value = 0.010). However, there were no significant connections between their grades and their academic course, high school attended, multiple intelligences, scholarship grants, study hours (Gamma = -0.215, p-value = 0.109), age, engagement in social activities, or daily schedule (Gamma = -0.131, p-value = 0.292). The analysis indicates that factors like academic course, high school attended, multiple intelligences, scholarship grants, study hours, age, social activities, and daily schedule do not significantly affect the academic performance of varsity players at Central Philippine University. This suggests that personal attributes and extracurricular activities may not strongly impact their grades. However, notable associations were found between sex, types of sports played, and academic grades, suggesting that gender and sports specialization might influence academic performance among varsity players.

Abstract:
This study aimed to identify the various behavioral problems exhibited by learners in a regular classroom setting and to determine the most prevalent issues as recognized by their advisers. A total of 278 students were observed, and 25 teachers were interviewed. The results indicated that the most common and disruptive behavior observed by teachers was the students’ inability to remain seated, exhibited by 261 learners (94% of the respondents). The second most common disruptive behaviors were transferring seats during class hours and the inability to complete tasks within the allotted time, comprising 254 or 91% of the learners. Additionally, interviews with teachers on their strategies for managing classroom behavior revealed that 40% (10 out of 25) of them first engaged in a conversation with the learner to understand the reasons behind the misbehavior. Out of 25, 5 (5%) provided activities to keep the learners engaged and to prevent disruptions. Moreover, 3 teachers opted to separate the students from their peers, while another 3 observed the learners before taking action. The findings suggested a need for further training and seminars on inclusive education for teachers.

Abstract:
This developmental research aimed to assess the cognitive development level of Grade One pupils in the Mother-Tongue subject, which served as the foundation for the development and evaluation of the “Binalaybay” book. This book is intended as MTB-MLE instructional material for teaching Grade One pupils. The study encompassed the entire cohort of 48 Grade One pupils, who achieved an average score of 12.04, indicating a low result. The majority encountered difficulties in Test II (naming objects as described in a phrase) and Test V (spelling). In response to these findings, the researchers designed and developed the “Binalaybay” book to facilitate the teaching of the Mother-Tongue subject. The book’s features were informed by teacher evaluations and the cognitive development levels of the Grade One pupils. It proved to be engaging, visually appealing, and motivational for early literacy. The book featured a pleasing rhythm and repetition that aided in the identification of phonemic sounds and was deemed appropriate for the cultural context and real-life-based content.

Abstract:
This descriptive-correlational study sought to identify the factors that affect speaking performance among 34 English majors at the College of Education, Central Philippine University. A specially designed data-gathering instrument was utilized for the research. Descriptive data analysis was conducted using frequency counts and percentages, while the Chi-square test was applied for inferential data analysis. The study’s findings indicated that the English majors, who were predominantly female third-year students, occasionally used English in daily conversations, self-rated their English-speaking skills as good, and spent 4 to 8 hours per week watching foreign English movies/TV programs. They exhibited varying levels of self-confidence and generally had low grades in Speech class. Their speaking performance ranged from high to low. The analysis revealed no significant correlation between speaking performance and factors such as gender, year level, frequency of English usage in daily conversations, self-assessment of English-speaking ability, time spent watching English media, and self-confidence. However, a significant relationship was found between speaking performance and grades in Speech class among the English majors.

Abstract:
This descriptive study aimed to assess the attitudes of Grade School Pupils towards individuals with special needs at a private university in Iloilo City. A researcher-created data-gathering instrument was utilized, which underwent face validation by a panel of jurors. The study included 181 randomly selected pupils. Descriptive data analysis was performed using frequency counts and percentages, while inferential data analysis employed the Chi-square test and Cramer’s V. The significance level was set at an alpha of .05. All statistical data processing and computations were conducted using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) software. The results revealed that the majority of the elementary pupils at Central Philippine University were female, with both parents holding college degrees, and had exposure to approximately four family members with special needs, predominantly those with physical impairments. The pupils predominantly exhibited a positive attitude towards individuals with special needs. There were no significant relationships between the pupils’ attitudes and variables such as parents’ educational attainment, exposure to individuals with special needs, the number of family members with disabilities, and the sex of the pupils. However, the grade level of the pupils appeared to be a factor in their positive attitude towards individuals with special needs.

Abstract:
This study aimed to determine the garbage disposal knowledge, awareness, and practices of senior high school students in order to develop a campaign material. The study was conducted among 326 students of a private university. The findings of the study were as follows: The garbage disposal level of knowledge was high, their practices were moderate, and their awareness was also high. Based on the findings, there was a significant difference in the level of knowledge when classified according to birth order, sex and grade level. The level of knowledge of eldest and middle child differed from youngest child, and an only child. Results also showed that the females’ level of knowledge on garbage disposal is higher as compared to the males’. Moreover, there were also significant differences in the garbage disposal practices among the students when grouped according to birth order and sex. In contrast, there is no significant difference in the garbage disposal practices when classified according to grade level. Findings further showed that there was a high significant relationship between level of knowledge and practices, between level of knowledge and level of awareness and between practices and awareness on garbage disposal. This showed that the more knowledgeable the students about garbage disposal, the more likely they have acquired high level of awareness and the more likely they performed good garbage disposal practices.

Abstract:
This paper is a study of loas from selected municipalities in Iloilo Province. The main purpose of this study is to gather loas from Ilonggos particularly in the municipalities of Calinog, Lambunao, and Passi. It aimed to discover if there are still existing Hiligaynon literatures in each municipality. Ten (10) loas were collected from the participants of each municipality which totaled to thirty (30) loas. Then, five (5) loas from each municipality were chosen and analyzed. Content analysis by Hycner (1995) was used to formulate the meaning and determine the cluster and central theme of each chosen loa. After determining the meaning and the themes of each loa, they were then categorized according to their central themes and the researchers then identified the similarities and differences of each loa in terms of themes. The findings of this research were based on the results of analysis which led the researchers to some conclusions and recommendations. The researchers have found that these loas were used a long time ago in an activity during a “bilasyon” or wake which was called “bordon”, a game were the participants are mostly young people, and participants would form a big circle while seated on the floor and follow some mechanics which is also discussed in this paper. Also, the researchers have determined that these loas gave joy and entertainment despite losing a loved one. Moreover, it was found out that the loas that were mostly recited are about love and perseverance. There were also other themes manifested by some loas.

Abstract:
This developmental study was conducted in order to come up with a phonic video for Grade 1 pupils of Bayag Elementary School, which is located in Leon, Iloilo. There were two Grade 1 advisers that were regarded as evaluators and their advisory classes as participants of this study. The narrative report served as the basis of the study which showed that some of the Grade 1 pupils lacked the necessary language skills especially identifying sounds and sight words, also the lack of supplementary materials for teaching English in Grade 1. In this study, the researchers came up with a video-based instructional material, especially, phonic video in English with appropriate words (sight words or the common words), with pictures, graphics, and sounds that will enhance pupils’ audio-visual and speaking skills. This study also aimed at helping teachers benefit from the video-based form or framework as a teaching-learning tool. The result of the study revealed that the use of video-based presentation for first-grade pupils is effective. Apparently, there is a need for the same types of instructional materials because these learning tools are user-friendly, relevant, and vital for teaching. The researchers recommend this study for further researches on the development and use of phonic videos for Grade 1 pupils and for exploring other factors that have not been considered as variables in this study.

Abstract:
This qualitative research study was conceptualized to describe the skills and factors which better predicted the outcomes of final volleyball matches in the UAAP and were significant for obtaining positive results in the game. The study sample consisted of best 3 matches played during the 2015-2017 UAAP women’s and men’s volleyball championship. The matches were played by 2 teams composed of 24 players from best of 3 championship game from three different seasons of 2015 to 2017. The variables analyzed were the result of the game, team category, points obtained in the break point phase, service errors, service aces, reception errors, positive receptions, perfect receptions, reception efficiency, attack errors, blocked attacks, attack points, attack efficiency and blocks performed by both teams participating in the match. The results showed that the variables of team category, points obtained in the break point phase, number of reception errors, and number of blocked attacks by the opponent were significant predictors of winning or losing the matches. Odds ratios indicated that the odds of winning a volleyball match were greater for the teams belonging to higher rankings and that every additional point in service, dig, receptions, block, and attack increased the odds of winning a match. Every reception and blocked ball error decreased the possibility of winning.

Abstract:
The study is analytical research in nature which employed the sports game analysis as an appropriate qualitative method. This study focused on the World Baseball Softball Confederation Women’s World Championship 2018 Playoff Round Games which aimed to analyze the style of delivery of pitching, techniques, location control and dominance of the pitchers in their game. The subjects of this study were identified and observed thoroughly. Specifically, this study sought to analyze the styles of delivery of pitching used by the pitchers; analyze the techniques of each pitcher in the game; analyze how pitchers control their pitches through locations of their pitches; and analyze the dominance of the pitcher. The analysis is divided into four parts namely: pitching style motion picture analysis, individual pitching techniques, location control analysis, and dominance. The study revealed that a pitcher who used the backswing windmill has more power and control over their pitches. USA and Canada used the backswing windmill style and won each of their game. The study revealed that pitchers had more control on pitching to the corners of the plate opposite to where the batters stand and waist level strike zone. Most pitchers threw low balls and there was a high percentage that their controls in low locations were not their best pitches. In the two games analyzed, Lawrie from Canada was revealed the most dominating pitcher.

Abstract:
This narrative inquiry aimed to gain a more in-depth understanding of teachers’ experiences and experiential knowledge on the implementation of modular learning in the National High School from Southern Iloilo. To make this possible, an in-depth interview was made among eight (8) English teachers in which their answers were transcribed, analysed and linked to Dewey’s Theory of Experience. There were three (3) themes generated about teachers’ perception in modular learning: (1) Personal knowledge and evaluation of the task, (2) Perceptions toward modular learning compared to traditional face-to-face learning, (3) Comparison of preparation of modules versus lesson plan under the traditional face-to-face learning. Three (3) themes were generated about the teachers’ challenges in the preparation and distribution of modules: (1) Teachers’ attitudes toward the task, (2) Evaluation of time during the experience, (3) Personal and professional sacrifices. There were also three (3) themes generated about teachers’ changed perceptions after the experience: (1) Evaluation or support received by the government, (2) Observed changes in perception towards teaching English, (3) Adjustment after the pandemic. The results of the study implied positive attitudes of the participants despite the challenges they had encountered in the preparation and distribution of the modules to students. The findings indicated that the primary challenges of teachers were reproduction, distribution, and retrieval of the modules. The x study revealed that in this modality, teachers have no control in the subject matter. Due to no control, they no longer find teaching English challenging.

Abstract:
This study aimed to measure the learning engagement of students in dancing using modular approach. The respondents of this study were 195 Grade 9 students from a school in Northern Iloilo. The research design used in this study was descriptive-correlational research design which measured the relationship of the two variables. The researchers used convenience sampling, a non- probability sampling where the sample is from those people who are easy to contact or to reach out. A formula was utilized to identify the number of respondents needed for the survey. The instrument utilized in this study is a researcher-made survey questionnaire validated by three (3) experts. The questionnaire was used as a measure of engagement where the respondents were   given questions to determine their sex, locality, and socio-economic status which were answered using scale of five (5, 4, 3, 2 and 1). The data collected were analyzed using the eta- squared, omega squared, and chi- squared. The findings of this study revealed that the level of perceived learning engagement in dancing using modular approach is average. It was also revealed that sex and locality do not affect the learning engagement of students and that there is no significant relationship between the two variables. However, when it comes to socio-economic status, the results revealed that it was statistically significant.

Abstract:
This study used Fairclough’s Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) to examine online local news articles on COVID-19. Specifically, this study discussed the linguistic features used in news headlines with respect to omission of subjects and auxiliaries, nominalizations, passivization, formation of word order, use of short words, and widespread use of puns and wordplay. This investigation revealed new terminologies as well as the ideologies present in the news articles. The COVID-19 news articles were selected from a major local online news portal and put through a rigorous review process (CDA). The findings revealed that linguistic features such as the omission of subjects and auxiliary verbs, word order formation, the use of short words, and puns and wordplay contribute to more engaging and concise new headlines. While the lack of Nominalization and Passivization characteristics is intended to lead the subject to more direct and objective treatment. The terms “Community Lockdowns,” “RT-PCR test,” “LSIs.” and “Quarantine” were commonly used to describe the COVID-19 pandemic. The news articles revealed that the government maintains the ideologies of both power and security. Power was maintained with the use of force and security through confidentiality. Overall, the authors used precise language to convey their personal perspectives on the subject. It is suggested that a more in-depth discussion of ideologies be conducted from a global perspective.

Abstract:
The primary purpose of this study was to develop modules in teaching concepts and principles of circles for Grade 10. In order to establish an empirical basis in creating the modules, Input-Process-Output (IPO) model was utilized. An examination of the DepEd curriculum guide was conducted to identify the specific learning competencies and topics   under circles. A review of related information from textbooks, existing modules, and websites in teaching the lessons was made by the researchers. A focus Group Discussion (FGD) through video conferences were then carried out to determine the content and design from 10 Mathematics teachers coming from four public schools in Western part of Aklan and Province of Iloilo. Data gathered from the FGD were analyzed using Thematic Analysis which generated nine final themes. These include strategies such as integration of real-life examples, use of inductive method, utilization of visual representations, and assessment of prior knowledge. Results suggest that learners should master the basic concepts before proceeding to complex topics. Activities should also be varied, simple, and systematic. Assessments must include activity sheets, summative tests, and performance tasks. After the design and development, the modules were then validated by three experts and evaluated by three Mathematics teachers through an adopted evaluation sheet. The results from the evaluation showed that the developed modules were “Excellent” with respect to its objectives, content, format and language, presentation, and usefulness. The developed modules include the following parts: Assessment of Prior Knowledge, Lessons and Topic Discussions, Activities, Performance Tasks, Summative Assessment, and Reflection.

This developmental research created an online interactive English module for Grade 8 students at a private high school in Guimaras. Specifically, this study utilized Input-Output (IPO) Model to identify the inputs, outputs, and processing tasks needed to transform inputs into outputs. For the inputs of the module, an interview and a performance task were given to the 23 Grade 8 students to evaluate their speaking abilities in terms of fluency, vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation. This was essentially the result of the creation and testing of a module to assist Grade 8 students in improving their speaking skills. The results show that the respondents had good or satisfactory in fluency, vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation skills, but none of them excelled in pausing and pacing, clarity, or emotion. According to the respondents’ overall speaking abilities, pronunciation and vocabulary are strengths, while fluency and grammar are weaknesses. Furthermore, they were unable to communicate due to a fear of making grammatical mistakes. The developed module includes Grade Eight lessons from MELCS and activities that can enhance the speaking skills of Grade Eight students. The activities of the module will develop and measure the students’ competency in speaking in terms of fluency, grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation.

Abstract:
This study was conducted to determine the problem solving skills of Grade 6 students in three selected public elementary schools in Central Visayas which served as the basis for the development of an enhancement booklet. The study used descriptive survey research design. This study was employed in selected public schools with 80 students which utilized a researcher made test composed of multiple choice and performance task items. It was found and concluded that respondents were in “emerging” level of problem solving skills when classified as a whole which means that the student do not fully understand the problems given in the test. Furthermore, the result of the arithmetic skills, number fact skills, information skills, and language skills were parallel to the overall result. The students were found to be in emerging level in problem solving skills which means that the students understand only a part of the problems in the test. The same result was obtained in four problem solving skills of students classified according to their gender; it appears that both male and female do not fully understand the problem given. In addition, it was also found that the respondents have low problem-solving comprehension skills, which means they cannot identify the use of fundamental operations, and cannot write correct number sentence of the problem. Lastly, it was concluded that an enhancement booklet should focus on the four major problem solving skills to highlight the needs of the students as needed.

Abstract:
The goal of this study is to create an educational video as an instructional resource for teaching locomotor skills to kindergarten learners. Locomotor movement is defined as the actor’s ability to move from one location to another (Webster’s Dictionary, n. d.). It includes walking, running, skipping, hopping, galloping, leaping, jumping, and sliding. This research determined the best way to present the educational video on locomotor movements. The participants in this study included five choreographers/dancers and 15 teachers. All of the choreographers and dancers are knowledgeable about the various locomotor skills. The researchers created an educational video that helped learners develop locomotor skills. This would necessitate a thorough understanding of locomotor skills as well as perseverance in video production. Even when classes are held in person, creating educational videos helps students learn better. The key to creating effective educational videos is to start with clear instructional intentions and then follow design principles based on research. The data were obtained from different source materials such as books and different websites. Other data were gathered from the interviewees; PE teachers in Bongco, Pototan, Iloilo. Their own experience about educational video for locomotor skills provided the information used in creating the video that can be used as instructional material that will show learners how locomotor skills will be executed properly. Due to the threat of COVID-19, some sports, gym and training have stopped; thus, this video was created so that proper execution of locomotor skills can be learned online while learners are safe in their homes.
